May 15- D-backs Go Deep 3 Times in 8th, Giants' Cain Hits Historic Mark

 The San Francisco Giants extended their win streak to 4 games as they beat the rival Los Angeles Dodgers 8-4. Buster Posey went deep for the 7th time this season and Eduardo Nunez plated 3 on an RBI single in the 4th and RBI double in the 8th.

Matt Cain regained his confidence on the mound, tossing 6.2 innings, allowing 1 run on 5 hits and 3 walks, while striking out 5. He also became only the 12th Giants pitcher to hit the 2,000 innings mark.

Dodgers starter Brandon McCarthy went 5.2 innings, allowing 6 runs on 8 hits and 1 walk, while striking out 5. The Dodgers started a comeback in the 9th inning, scoring 3 times, but still falling 4 runs short.

The Giants will face the Dodgers again tomorrow in San Francisco.

Indians 8

 Lonnie Chisenhall hit a 3-run homer, helping the Cleveland Indians along to a 5 run 1st inning and a 8-7 victory over the Tampa Bay Rays.

Blue Jays 6

Freddie Freeman hit a 3-run homer as the Atlanta Braves poured 13 hits on the Toronto Blue Jays' pitching staff. Nick Markakis also had 3 RBIs to lift the Braves over the Jays 6-3.

Astros 7
Marlins 2

Jose Altuve notched 3 RBIs in his return to the Houston Astros lineup. But his return was overshadowed by Yuli Gurriel who hit his first career grand slam to beat the Miami Marlins 7-2.

Mets 3
D-backs 7

 Yasmany Tomas hit a 3-run homer to break a 1-1 tie in the bottom of the 8th. Jeff Mathis and Daniel Delcalso also went deep to give the Arizona Diamondbacks a 6 run 8th inning, and a 7-3 victory over the New York Mets.

 White Sox 3
Angels 5

 Mike Trout and Kole Calhoun went deep back-to-back to spark a 4 run 5th inning for the Los Angeles Angels, lifting them over the Chicago White Sox 5-3.

 Brewers 5
Padres 6

 Hunter Renfroe hit a walk-off 2-run homer in the bottom of the 10th to give the San Diego Padres the win over the Milwaukee Brewers. This came after Eric Sogard crushed a go-ahead home run in the top of the 10th.

 Athletics 5
Mariners 6

 The Seattle Mariners scored 2 in the top of the 9th to go-ahead and snap their 4 game losing streak by beating the Oakland A's 6-5. Nelson Cruz and Kyle Seager each hit homers for the Mariners.

May 10- Giants rally in 9th, Marquez silences Cubs, Rays rout Royals

The Mets led 3-2 going into the 9th and even countered with 2 of their own runs in the 9th, but fell short, losing 6-5. This 4 run rally came courtesy of a Hunter Pence single and a Christian Arroyo double that plated 3. Matt Cain tossed 5.0 innings allowing 3 runs (2 earned), on 2 hits and 2 walks, striking out 3. Mets' starter Tommy Milone threw 5.0 innings as well, allowing  2 runs on 6 hits and 2 walks, striking out 5.  Mets' closer Jeurys Familia blew the save in his 3rd straight outing. The Giants are now 12-23, still last in the NL West, 10.0 games behind the Rockies. They will travel back home to play the Cincinnati Reds tomorrow at 7:15 p.m. PT. Lester downright masterful as homers sink Cueto, Giants

(Photo by Jonathan Daniel/Getty Images) Cubs 4 Kyle Schwarber and Jason Heyward both hit solo homers in the first and second innings, respectively, to give the Chicago Cubs a 2-0 lead over the San Francisco Giants. Anthony Rizzo also hit a homer, a two-run smash, that plated he and Kris Bryant in the fourth inning. The Giants scored their only run in the fifth inning after Brandon Crawford doubles, plating Buster Posey. Posey reached by smacking a double of his own. He currently sits at third in the National League in batting average at .361. For the Giants, Johnny Cueto tossed six innings, allowing all four runs on five hits and a walk. Cueto did have one positive on the night as he struck out eight on 98 pitches. Cueto's era moved up to 4.64, ranking 31st in the NL.
