Boston Red Sox ace Chris Sale quieted the Tampa Bay Rays offense, only allowing 2 hits and 2 walks through 7.0 innings. Sale struck out 12, but allowed the Rays to score 3 times. Ray's starter Blake Snell threw 5.2 innings, allowing 6 runs on 6 hits and 3 walks, while striking out 5. For the Red Sox, Mookie Betts hit his 6th home run of the season, a 2-run shot in the 3rd inning.
The Rays fall to 18-21, 4th in the AL East, 6.5 games behind the Orioles.
The Red Sox improve to 19-17, 2nd in the AL East, 4.0 games behind the Orioles.

Giants 3
Brandon Belt and Justin Ruggiano each hit solo homers to lift the San Francisco Giants over the Cincinnati Reds 3-1. Belt's homer was a splash hit, his 6th.
Giant's starter Matt Moore tossed 7.1 innings, allowing 1 run on 8 hits and 3 walks, while striking out 7. Red's pitcher Lisalverto Bonilla threw a complete game, 8.0 innings, allowing 3 runs on 6 hits and 2 walks, while striking out 5. This was Bonilla's first start in the majors since 2014.
The Reds are now 19-17, 2nd in the NL Central, 1.5 games behind the Cardinals.
The Giants improve to 14-24, last in the NL West, 9.5 games behind the Rockies.

Jose Bautista hit a 3-run home run in the 8th inning to seal the Toronto Blue Jays win. The Seattle Mariners scored only 2 runs, despite notching 12 hits on the night. Blue Jay's starter Marcus Stroman went 6.0 innings, allowing 2 runs on 8 hits and 2 walks, while striking out 9. For the Mariners, Ryan Weber only lasted 3.2 innings, allowing 1 run on 3 hits and no walks, with no strikeouts. Weber exited with shoulder tightness in the 4th inning.
The Mariners fall to 17-20 after the loss, tied with Texas and Oakland for 3rd in the AL West, 8.5 games behind the Astros.
The Blue Jays sit at 16-21, last in the AL East, 7.5 games behind the Orioles.
