Buster Posey crushed a walk-off solo homer in the 17th inning to beat the Reds 3-2. Denard Span plated the other Giants runs, including a solo homer of his own in the 1st inning.

Giants starter Johnny Cueto tossed 8.0 innings, allowing 2 runs on 5 hits and 3 walks, while striking out 6. The Giants used all 7 of their relievers during extra innings. Reds pitcher Scott Feldman went 7.0 innings, allowing 2 runs on 7 hits and 1 walk, striking out 2.

The Giants improve to 13-24, still last in the NL West, 10.0 games behind the Rockies.

The Reds fall to 19-16, 2nd in the NL Central,

1.5 games behind the Cardinals.
